Sketch Series 2

Photos taken at 3 different places around town: a restaurant, a retail store, and an art museum. Photos used to compare the lighting quality, type, and patterns.

@ Target February 13, 2009
Lighting: Fluorescent
Reactions: Smooth, uniform lighting throughout the space is
key for retail stores that sell a variety of products.
Recommendations: small, subtle brightness of light
directed toward key products
@ Ham's on Friendly, February 15, 2009
Lighting: Incandescent, LED, and Natural
Reactions: the mixture of so much light is distracting.
Too much light on one side and not enough on the other
Recommendations: Lower the light fixtures above the tables to
create a more intimate space, control the glare from the
windows while still letting the natural light flow in.

@ Weatherspoon Art Museum, February 23, 2009
Lighting: Incandescent task lighting
Reactions: creates the dynamic focus on each
piece that is necessary in a museum
Recommendations: none. light patterns are simple and
correct for the space
